On 2082 Asoj 2, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed sorrow for lives lost in the Gen-G protests and condemned violence. His office clarified fake news about money tunnels, burnt notes, and residence attacks circulating on social media.
The President of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Shri Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed deep sorrow for all those who lost their lives in the peaceful protests called by the Gen-G generation of Nepal on Bhadra 23 and 24 and paid heartfelt tribute to all the sons of the great Nepali mother who lost their lives. He has also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
We condemn the criminal activities carried out by various groups who have tarnished the Gen-G movement and fulfilled their own evil intentions by creating unimaginable terror since the morning of the 24th, attacking the offices of political parties and the private residences of leaders. On Bhadra 24, President Deuba, his wife and central member Dr. Arju Rana Deuba, among others, entered the residence of the President of the Nepali Congress in the style of a robbery and carried out a deadly attack.
But even after such a heinous criminal incident, our serious attention has been drawn to the fact that fabricated news such as “excessive money found in Deuba’s residence, burnt notes found everywhere in the residence premises, money tunnel” is being circulated on various social media with the aim of defaming the party and its leadership. The scenes shown on social media are fabricated, exaggerated and misleading, as well as misleading news spread with the intention of defaming with malicious intent. I would like to clarify that there is no truth in such rumors spread especially on social media with the intention of defaming.
1. Since various social media platforms have been seen promoting the underground tank inside the house with various assumptions, I would like to clarify that it is a water tank.
2. It has been found that edited photos and videos of burnt notes from different places and times have been circulated on YouTube and social media through the misuse of technology with the intention of insulting the public. We would like to clarify that there is no truth in this.
I sincerely request all Nepali parents, brothers, sisters, and all party leaders and members, including all concerned, not to follow such misleading information spread with the intention of defaming.
Jai Nepal!
